CCC camp at the Rhinelander Museum

CCC camp at the Rhinelander Museum

One of the highlights of my grandfather’s early life was when he could stop hauling illegal beverages and go to work in a Civilian Conservation Corps CCC camp.  Not only was it a great opportunity to meet other young people who he would not have met deep in the northwoods, but he also learned many useful skills including surveying, tree planting, road construction, bridge construction, and more.

At the Rhinelander Museum we had the opportunity to tour the facilities that these young men lived and worked in.
